Atlantic Housing Foundation Inc. (AHF) is renovating the Waters at Augusta Apartments in Greenville, South Carolina. The property, formerly known as Shemwood Crossing, is located in the Pleasant Valley neighborhood about four miles south of the city center and was acquired by AHF as part of an affordable housing portfolio in 2019. Built in 1969, it consists of 200 project-based voucher (Section 8) townhomes that have long been in need of rehabilitation.
With this renovation, AHF aims to make Waters at Augusta a great place to live for the residents and surrounding Greenville community. The project will include green initiatives with the use of water-saving features, LED lighting and energy efficient appliances and windows. Other improvements include new roofing, siding, exterior doors, water lines, electrical wiring, water heaters, heat and air conditioning systems, flooring, and fresh paint inside and out. Each unit’s kitchen will have new cabinets, countertops, sinks, and appliances, while new plumbing fixtures, flooring, medicine cabinets, vents, and lighting will be installed in the bathrooms. The leasing office will also receive an upgrade, and a playground and picnic area amenities are being added to the community. Completion of the project is planned for November 2023.
