On June 10, 2024 Atlantic Housing Foundation’s Temple Court Apartments experienced a devastating fire that displaced over 60 senior residents and destroyed their belongings. AHF is happy to report that these residents are now getting re-established in their beautiful new homes at The Residences at Sawyer’s Walk in Miami. This newly built senior community owned by Swerdlow Group is just five blocks from where Temple Court stood.
A team from AHF came out to help with the transition on the September 16, 2024 moving day, including CEO Michael Nguyen. “The residents of Temple Court wanted to stay together, wanted to stay close to the neighborhood that they’ve known for forever…I think they’re going to be so happy here – it’s just such a beautiful facility,” Mr. Nguyen said in an interview with NBC.
AHF and Sawyer’s Walk pitched in together to provide furniture for these residents, who had lost everything in the fire. They were also given a starter kit of basic supplies and a gift card to purchase other necessities, which was paid for with Atlantic Housing’s $100,000 donation and $17,000 in generous GoFundMe donations from others who had been touched by this tragedy. Thank you to all who contributed toward this cause!
