(Dallas, TX) Beginning June 27, 2024, Atlantic Housing Foundation, Inc., the owner of the Temple Court Apartment community in Miami, Florida, is raising funds to help support over 60 seniors who were tragically displaced by a devastating fire that ravaged their homes.

The Dallas-based affordable housing nonprofit is donating $100,000 to provide immediate relief and long-term support for the displaced Temple Court residents as they seek to rebuild their lives. They are also inviting Atlantic Housing employees, friends, family, business partners, the Dallas and Miami communities, and anyone touched by this tragedy to help raise another $100,000 to double the impact through a GoFundMe campaign.

Atlantic Housing Foundation’s President and CEO, Michael Nguyen, went to Miami the week of the fire to visit the residents and meet with city officials. “We are so grateful for the outpouring of support from the City of Miami, Miami-Dade County and the local nonprofits and businesses that have generously donated their time and resources to help the displaced residents. The fire department and local law enforcement did an outstanding job putting out the fire and safely rescuing residents, nearly all of whom are elderly. While we have secured temporary housing for the residents, and are working to find them more permanent housing solutions, our residents have lost nearly everything. We need your help to get them back on their feet,” says Nguyen.

PayPal will issue tax receipts directly to donors who give through the GoFundMe campaign. Additionally, Atlantic Housing Foundation says they will be acknowledging donating persons and companies on their website and social media pages.

On Monday, June 10, 2024, Temple Court experienced a fire that left over 60 people without a home and destroyed their belongings. That same morning, Temple Court’s lead service technician was wounded by gunfire. The Miami-Dade Police Department has apprehended a suspect in relation to the shooting and arson.
